Rakhal Das Banerjee was a 33 year old employee at the ASI in the year 1918. His British boss apparently asked Rakhal to find a Greek pillar in the province of Sindh. According to his boss, Indians were not capable of constructing classical architecture on their own and they must have copied the style from Greek architecture. To prove himself right he sent Rakhal on a task to find the so called Greek victory pillar.
